Our Mission
Our mission, as a church, is to glorify God by obeying His command to preach the gospel, baptize, teach, and care for the people of His church (Mt 28:18-20, Jn 13:34-35). The means the Lord has ordained for the spreading of the good news of salvation in Christ Jesus is the Word of God (Rom 10:9-17).
Our Worship
The acceptable way of worshipping God is instituted by Himself and revealed to us in the Bible. Worship by the church takes place in the congregation, in families, and in individual devotions. Congregational worship in the New Testament and early Church consisted of the reading and preaching of God's Word, prayer, singing praise to God collectively, the celebration of the Lord's Supper, and the giving of offerings in the service of His people (Acts 2:42, Acts 4:24, 1Thes 5:17, Col 3:16, 1Cor 11:23-29, 1Cor 16:1-2). Congregational worship in the Bible included all of God's people without exception as to gender, age, or social groups. (Dt 16:11-14, 29:10-13, 31:12-13, Josh 8:35, Mt 19:13-15). It is particularly important for families to be together in congregational worship so that they can discuss the preaching of the Word at home. To this end we have set aside a portion of the sanctuary to allow family members the opportunity to continue in worship with the people of God when they occasionally need to teach young children the importance of sitting quietly during the church service.
Our Families
Families should worship in the home. The head of the household should spiritually lead his wife and children in Bible study (Eph 5:26, 6:4). Family worship may also include prayer and singing. Individual devotions or Bible study should be a daily part of every Christian's life, especially for single people. The church should encourage and assist its members in developing their personal devotional lives (Acts 10:2). In addition to the preaching of the Word our church provides sound literature, through the church library, to aid individuals and families in their walk with Christ.
Our Commitment to One Another
Christ is the head of the Church (Eph. 1:22-23). Elders are appointed to oversee the local congregation. They are responsible to guard and promote the spiritual welfare of the members. They are required by their office to visit the people, especially the sick, and pray with them, to comfort the sorrowing, encourage the weak, guide the wayward and the careless, and, in general to discharge all other duties in Christian love. Deacons bear special responsibility for giving leadership and organisation of the church's ministry to those in material need or distress. They have a vital role in making the overall mission of the church possible by aiding the proclamation of the Word. Individual members are responsible to support the work of the church through prayer, service to others, regular attendance at all appointed hours of worship, presentation of needs and concerns to the leadership, and a willingness to seek the peace, purity, and prosperity of the body of Christ.
